The Animal Welfare League of South Australia is located in Wingfield and operates the largest animal Shelter in South Australia.
The AWL's primary role in the community is to care for lost and abandoned dog, cats, puppies and kittens, all without government funding.
There are many benefits of adopting a pet into your family and it is important remember that every animal available for adoption from the AWL is:
- Personality profiled
- Flea and worm treated
- Health checked
Each animal adopted from the AWL has undergone extensive behavioural and temperament tests to gain a better understanding of their unique personality. This insight and understanding then helps the AWL team to match adopting families with each animal available for adoption.
The AWL team ask that all family members are present when meeting a potential new family member to ensure everyone gets along.
When adopting a dog or puppy, any dogs that are currently living with the family must be brought to the AWL for a dog to dog introduction under the guidance of an AWL Behaviour Team member. (Please note that any dog brought to the AWL for a dog to dog meeting must be fully vaccinated).
